Moving

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting          Moving

A note to my readers, I will be back within a couple of days with new blog entries. I have been in the process of moving and getting everything put away.

Of course I have had much time to think (I'm not sure if that is a good thing). My next blog is titled "Personal Jesus", I hope to post within a couple of days when life will be some what normal again.

Thanks for your patience!

Version 101

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting          Keeper's Version

Thought today I'd surf the net. I came across this site called the Bible Gateway. This site listed just about any version of the Good Book you could want. I counted 21 versions printed in english (there were many in other languages I didn't even count). Of course each version has made changes to suit their understanding.

I searched the site for 1 Corinthians 13:1-3, just to see how versions differ.

The Message ~~ 1 If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. 2 If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing. 3-7If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.

New Century Version ~~ 1 I may speak in different languages of people or even angels. But if I do not have love, I am only a noisy bell or a crashing cymbal. 2 I may have the gift of prophecy. I may understand all the secret things of God and have all knowledge, and I may have faith so great I can move mountains. But even with all these things, if I do not have love, then I am nothing. 3 I may give away everything I have, and I may even give my body as an offering to be burned. But I gain nothing if I do not have love.

Wycliffe New Testament ~~ 1 If I speak with tongues of men and of angels, and I have not charity, I am made as brass sounding, or a cymbal tinkling. 2 And if I have prophecy, and know all mysteries, and all knowing [and all knowing, or science], and if I have all faith, so that I move hills from their place [so that I bear over hills from one place to another], and I have not charity, I am nought. 3 And if I part all my goods into the meats of poor men, and if I betake my body, so that I burn, and if I have not charity, it profiteth to me nothing.

King James Version ~~ 1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. ( There are aso the "New King James Version" and the 21st Century King James Version")

This is only a sample of one passage in the Good Book that has many changes, now can you imagine how the other passages have been altered also?

As I was finishing up I came across a whole new version of the Good book that is being written called "The Rick James Version":

English:

Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Thy Kingdom come
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
For thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever.
Amen

Ebonics:

Yo, Big Daddy upstairs
You be chillin
So be yo hood
You be sayin' it, I be doin' it
In this here hood and yo's
Gimme some eats
And cut me some slack, Blood
Sos I be doin' it to dem dat diss me
don't be pushing me into no jive
and keep dem Crips away
'Cause you always be da Man
Aaa-men

Does the original version still exist?  Can I write my own version "Keeper's Version"?

Christian Dating

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting          FishMatch.com

There are many online dating services, even Christian online dating. Now with the word Christian in front of the words, online dating one would think the people who post their profiles on the service would be honest. WRONG!

A few months ago a friend and I were talking and she expressed she would like to meet a nice Chrisitian man. I suggested she sign up for one of those online Christian dating services. So off to the pc we went. After searching the net she located one that seemed to have what she needed. After spending an hour filling in pages of info about herself and info about who she would like to meet, she finally got to the end of the section. Next she was ask to enter her credit card, she agreed to pay a small fee in hopes of meeting the Christian man of her dreams.

Now to the fun part, the service had agreed to make matches for her. She was excited.

My friends stay with the Christian online dating service was over after the first set of matches came up. The first page contained the profiles of THREE MARRIED MEN from her church.

You've Got Mail

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting          You've Got Mail

I didn't ask for it, but religion was delivered to my door yesterday. I received a legal size envelope from the "57 year old church". I calculated back 57 years, and it would mean they came into exsistance in 1951. Does their name change every year or is it always 57 years?

Opening the envelope I noticed there were three pages folded together. On page of testimonies, one marked "don't open", and one marked "prayer rug".

The testimony page first explained how people have used the rug and how it has worked for them.  Second it explained what I need to  do with this rug (which is really a piece of printer paper). I'm suppose to look at the rug until I see a picture of Jesus looking back at me. I have to decide what I'm praying for, such as money, car, health, etc, etc... Next I am actually suppose to kneel on this rug (piece of paper), and pray. After I have done that I'm suppose to return the rug back to the 57 year old church so they can send it to someone else (printer paper is getting expensive). Just a note mine looked brand new.

After explaining what to do with the rug, the testimonal page gives "actual testimonies". One was a picture of a lady holding her rug up and stating her prayers have been answered. Her leg no longer hurts (my guess is she finally took her medication for pain). All the rest of the testimonals were one liners... "I got a car", "I got money", "I got a new house", etc, etc... Ok after reading those I'm convienced. Oh and of course there is the section about how much I would like to donate to them, and where to mail it to.

Finally comes the last page which is folded and sealed with a clear sticker. It read "only open if you mail back the rug". No I didn't mail the rug back and yes I did open the seal. The warning on the outside made me think the inside content was reserved for those special people who mailed the rug back. Wrong all the paper did was summerize up everything the other paper stated.

Do people really mail this rug back, and do they really mail a donation back wih it?

TV Ministry

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting          TV Ministry

Today I watched a popular TV Ministry. The whole message was about how people need to attend church every week, and support that church. It wasn't even a message about people need to attend a church, but instead a message about how people should attend or watch THAT church. The minister even put down other churches. Is this what religion is all about?

I didn't hear the minister say a word about love, forgiveness or helping others. Everything was centered around that ministry getting funds to continue on. From the look of the massive size of the building, and the hugh pipe organ I would think they would be offering to help some homeless people.

I'm sure I'm not the only confused person on this planet. I guess it is my confusion that has brought me to the wrong line of work, it seems if I'd gone into the business of religion I'd be a millionair.

Testify

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting          I Want To Testify

Funny the different things that goes through the mind of a small child. As a child my parents took me to different churches, so it is no suprise that as an adult I'm confused over religion. I know as a child I certainly was.

I recall one time going to a church that had a big bus sitting in the parking lot. I can remember wishing I could ride in it, which I did get to later.

Upon entering the church everyone looked like a carbon copy of each other, hair in a bun on top the head and dresses almost to the ankle. I think it was a rule to look this way. Shortly after taking our seats the service started.

The preacher was a short round man with a mighty voice. He really didn't need the microphone but insisted on using it. Now as a small child sitting in a pew watching the events of the day, I can say I'm suprised more people don't turn away from the church.

The first order of business was to sing, people clapping their hands and getting excited (ok I have no problem with that). Soon the preacher starts his sermon, and the sweat. He picks out a couple verses from the Good Book and starts yelling about them. He would scream so loud into the microphone that it made my ears buzz ( at this point I'm thinking how can I get out of here, and what is he saying?). By now he has removed his jacket and the sweat is pouring off his beet red face, and he is jumping up and down. I wonder what God thought about this, and was He as confussed about this as I was?

The preacher is really getting into the sermon, jumping, yelling and pointing his finger at people. Then out of the blue people started jumping to their feet yelling I want to testify. Testify? What is that all about, I know we have Bibles laying around but we aren't in court! They would stand up, waive their hands in the air, cry and yell. I could never understand all the yelling, I guess with God being so far away they thought unless they yelled he wouldn't be able to hear them.

Even as a small child, I thought their actions were out there. I often wondered who they were putting on a show for. God? Does he want one, he already knows what is in the heart. So I have come to the conclussion they were putting on a show for each other. As if to say look, I'm yelling, jumping, sweating, crying more than you, so I must have more faith and love for God than you do.

To this day I'm still confused as to what goes through peoples mind when they do this, and please think of the children when you do this.

Moving in slow motion

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting   Moving In Slow Motion

Over the last couple of days I haven't written a thing. I guess I could of sat down and made myself write, but I thought ahhh, why bother. Sometimes I feel like I'm getting nowhere. No matter how hard I try I'm just not making the progress I want to be making.

Do you ever feel like you have been walking for a lifetime, but when you pause for a minute and look down, your are in the same place where you started? Nothing has changed except for the spot under your feet. There is a hole under you now instead of the even ground you started on.

Tomorrow is a new day, I plan to actually take a step forward, that way when I start walking I can fill up the old hole and make progress on a new one.

In His Image

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting          In His Image

Being brought into the world in the middle of time, is not easy. Really it leaves one very confused.

I'm trying to figure out what exactly God had in mind when he decided to create the human race. I understand he is suppose to love us and answer all our prayers, if we have our faith. If God created us in his image, then I  think we would be full of love and forgiveness. Man is not like that, so I ask myself what is the image of God we are suppose to be made in? I can't believe God is of human form (but then I won't know I have never seen Him, has anyone)? So is this image about personality?

I have read some passages from the Bible, and I find some of them rather harsh, is this the image we were created in? Is it pleasing to God to see humans, kill each other in His name?

Joy

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting          Joy

Life is a joy
if we let it be
an open book
for the world to see

Sun shinning in
with radient smiles
the glow in their eyes
makes it all worth while

A tender touch
with a gentle caress
a passionate kiss
they begin to undress

The world is theirs
to take by the hand
a moment shared
between a woman and a man

Soul

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting          Soul

Hidden beyond the darkest place
a soul lies in wait
ready to leave it's warm space
to cross over the gate.

Hidden beyond ones imagination
a soul mingles around
waiting for joy and frustration
ready to step on ground.

Without warning                                                                                                                         a souls wait is complete
what seemed like eternity
was only a moments sleep

The soul has reached its destination
to live, to love, to begin
another chance to make a connection
until it is called to start again.
